We are thrilled to let you all know that Nixiwaka Yawanawá and his wife Matsa, from the Yawanawá tribe in the Amazon rainforest, have just contacted us to let us know of the birth of their new baby boy who is called Sol Yahu Nixiwaka Yawanawá. They are all doing well. Nixiwaka and Matsa travelled downriver from the tribal village of Mutum to the town of Tarauacá ready for the birth and it was lucky they set off early as their baby wasn’t due until the 10th November!
If we receive any more news from the Yawanawá we will keep you posted and please share this news with your class and children as it really helps to build bonds and might encourage your children to tread gently as they grow to help to protect the Amazon and other rainforests.
